MedVyra is a free, non-commercial study platform built by a medical student, for medical students. This page explains, in plain language, what information the site handles, why it handles it, and the choices you have. We have written it to be read easily rather than to hide behind legal phrasing.

Our approach in one line

We collect the minimum needed to run the site. We do not sell data, we do not advertise, and we do not build profiles of our users. Most of MedVyra works without any account at all.

Browsing without an account

You can open MedVyra, read the question banks, use the video atlas, and use the Revision Tracker without creating an account. In that mode nothing you do is tied to your identity. Your revision progress is stored only in your own browser's local storage, on your own device, and never leaves it.

When you create an account (optional)

An account is entirely optional and exists for one reason: so your progress can follow you across devices instead of living in a single browser. If you choose to sign up, we store:

• Your email address — used to sign you in and, if you turn reminders on, to email you about topics you have not revised.
• The name, state and college you optionally provide — used only to personalise the interface. Every field is optional; you can leave them blank.
• Your study progress — which questions you have attempted, which topics you have marked as revised, your revision counts and dates, and your reminder settings.

Authentication and data storage are handled by Supabase, a widely used hosted database and authentication provider. Your password is never stored by us in readable form; it is handled by Supabase's authentication system.

Email reminders

If you switch email reminders on, we send at most one reminder per day listing topics you have not revised within your chosen interval. Every reminder includes a way to turn reminders off. We do not send marketing, newsletters, or promotional mail of any kind. If you never enable reminders, we never email you.

What we do NOT do

• We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone, ever.
• We do not run third-party advertising networks or behavioural tracking pixels.
• We do not build advertising profiles or shadow user profiles.
• We do not ask for payment details, and the site takes no payments.
• We do not collect health information about you; nothing you enter here is medical data about you personally.

We claim no ownership of third-party study material

To be explicit: MedVyra does not claim ownership of the questions, explanations, images or videos that originate from other educators, institutions or publishers. All rights in that material belong to their respective owners. MedVyra is a free, non-commercial study compilation; our own contribution is the arrangement and structure. Technical information handled by our infrastructure

Like virtually every website, the network providers that deliver MedVyra process routine technical information in order to serve pages and keep the site secure. This can include your IP address, browser type and version, the pages you request, the time of your request, and the referring page. This is handled by our hosting provider (Cloudflare) and, for authentication and stored progress, by Supabase. It is used for delivering content, security, abuse prevention, and aggregate performance monitoring — not for advertising, and not to identify you personally.

Cookies and local storage

MedVyra itself sets no advertising cookies. Strictly functional browser storage is used to keep you signed in and to remember your revision progress on your device. Third-party services we rely on (for example Cloudflare for delivery, Supabase for sign-in, and YouTube for embedded video) may set their own cookies under their own policies. You can clear or block cookies and local storage at any time in your browser settings; the site will still work, though you may be signed out or lose locally stored progress.

Children and students under 18

MedVyra is intended for medical students and exam candidates, who are generally adults. If you are under 18, please use the site with the involvement of a parent, guardian, or teacher. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; if you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will remove it.

Data retention and deletion

We keep account information only for as long as your account exists. You may request deletion of your account and all associated progress at any time by contacting us from the email address linked to the account. Locally stored progress can be removed instantly by clearing your browser's storage for this site. When you ask us to delete an account, we remove the associated personal data and study records.

Security

We use established providers and standard practices (encrypted connections, scoped database access rules) to protect the small amount of data we hold. No system can promise perfect security, and we ask you to use a unique password and keep it private. This is a free educational project run by an individual, so please treat it as a study tool rather than a place for sensitive information.

Your choices and rights

You can browse without an account, use the tracker locally without an account, turn email reminders off at any time, edit or clear your profile fields, and request deletion of your account data. If you have a question about your information, contact us and we will respond as clearly and quickly as we can.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the date at the top of this page will change and the substance of the change will be reflected here. Because MedVyra is a free study resource, our guiding principle will remain the same: collect as little as possible, never sell it, and use it only to make studying work better for you.
